Well done to Rebecca Tansley whose short film The Finding has picked up two more international festival selections - the Middlebury New Filmmakers Festival in Vermont and the Lady Filmmakers Festival in Los Angeles next month.
Rebecca can’t attend as she's in pre-production for her second opera film for New Zealand Opera, The Strangest of Angels (her first was the NZO's live production of Semele). Inspired by an incident in the life of Janet Frame, this short opera (it's 54 mins) is a new work that will be filmed on location by DOP Jess Charlton.
Written and directed by Tansley, The Finding follows a teenager’s efforts to reconnect with her estranged father, forcing them both to confront a dark secret from their past.
